Athletes Celebrated at Winter Sports Awards Ceremony

The spirit of sportsmanship, resilience, and personal growth was on full display in Bingham Auditorium as Gould Academy celebrated its standout winter athletes during the annual Winter Sports Awards Ceremony. Students, coaches, and families gathered to recognize achievements across a wide range of disciplines—from Nordic and Freestyle to Snowboarding and Basketball—reflecting the academy’s deep commitment to developing well-rounded, courageous, and community-minded individuals.

Nordic Skiing: Speed, Strength, and Spirit

Lucas Barstow and Kate Carlson took home top honors as Male and Female Nordic Skiers of the Year. Ian Brown and Reese Furneaux were celebrated for their mentorship with the Coaches’ Award, while Brynn Newsom was named Most Improved and Mallory Raymond earned the Sportsmanship Award, embodying the Gould value of kindness both on and off the trail.


Freestyle and Freeride: Elevating Every Run

Camden Lewis was named Freestyle Skier of the Year, and Ryan Kramer was recognized as Freeski Skier of the Year. Maeve Grocki stood out as Freeride Skier of the Year. Finn Baker earned the Coaches’ Award for Freestyle, and Colin Martin was recognized for his remarkable progress with the Most Improved Award.


Ski Cross: Speed Meets Precision

Molly Hagan was honored as Ski Cross Skier of the Year, with Gabriel Kean receiving the Coaches’ Award and Riley Corner named Most Improved.


Snowboarding: Excellence Across the Board

Hanna Percy and Shae Hemberger were both named Riders of the Year, while Sienna McKinley received the Coaches’ Award for her leadership and dedication.


Alpine: Commitment at Every Level

From U14 to U18 and Varsity, Gould recognized excellence across Alpine Skiing. Notable winners included Farley Ordway and Sergi Puigdemasa (U16 Skiers of the Year), Lucie Ježková and James Tucker (U18 Skiers of the Year), and Peyton Toomey and Atsushi Ozaki for Coaches’ Awards. Ozaki also earned the U18 Most Improved Award. Jasper Wollweber received the Varsity Alpine Coaches’ Award.


All Mountain & Snowboard: Versatility Recognized

In All Mountain Snowboarding, Abby Tamalunas earned the Coaches’ Award and Colin Rogers was named Most Improved. In the All Mountain division, Rosie Barstow and Fritz Johnson received Coaches’ Awards, while Allison Garcia took home Most Improved.


Rug Rats and Ski Patrol: Growing with Purpose

Toby Maguire was honored as Rookie of the Year and Maggie Wyatt as Instructor of the Year in the Rug Rats program. While no formal awards were presented for Ski Patrol, the entire team was acknowledged for their vital contributions to Gould’s mountain safety and student experience.


Basketball & Learn to Ski/Ride: Growth On and Off the Slopes

Reiley Hedden was named Basketball MVP, while in the Learn to Ski program, Gillian Field and Mateo Viniergra Ocampo earned Coaches’ Awards, with Beina Zheng recognized as Most Improved. For Learn to Ride, Momoka Imai received the Coaches’ Award, and Luca Bee Dragonetti was named Most Improved.
