Olympian Doug Lewis Shares Ski Racing Insights and Tips with Gould Athletes
Olympian Doug Lewis visited Gould Academy, sharing his journey from the slopes of Vermont to his accomplishments as a two-time Olympian and 1985 World Championships bronze medalist. Doug spoke to our athletes about the mental resilience and focus that shaped his success in ski racing, emphasizing the importance of goal-setting, confidence, and tackling challenges with determination.
The following day, Doug joined our athletes at Sunday River for 'Camp Friday,' where he worked alongside GACP athletes, coaching them through starts, drills, and thorough course inspections. As a start coach, Doug offered valuable tips and cheered on athletes, bringing his passion and technical expertise directly to the slopes.
Doug’s visit provided inspiring stories and practical insights that will help our athletes both on and off the snow. “It's an awesome opportunity for our athletes to work with an athlete of Doug's caliber and experience,” said Gould Head Alpine Coach Parker Gray ’97. “Focus and determination play a huge role in ski racing, and our athletes gained great insights from Doug that they can carry with them this season.”
We’re also excited to announce that Doug’s ELITEAM camps will be coming to Gould this summer, offering young athletes the chance to build physical and mental strength. Registration for ELITEAM opens on February 1st.
Thank you, Doug, for an unforgettable experience that will leave a lasting impact on the Gould community!
