Gould Academy’s Training Camps are available to non-students and provide an excellent opportunity to experience high-quality early training. Gould’s training home, Sunday River Resort, is known to be the best early-season training venue in the East. Because of the popularity in the past, we expect these camps to fill by early Fall, so register soon. Scroll down for information on all of our camps!

Alpine Training Camps

U12/U14 November Development Camp

November 16-18, 2019, at Sunday River
Take advantage of the most reliable early-season snow in the East. This training camp focuses on slalom and giant slalom progressions. Athletes are grouped by age and experience with an athlete to Gould coach ratio of approximately 6:1. Work with Gould’s high school coaches who have trained Olympic and Division I ski racers.

U12/U14 Pre-Holiday SL/GS Camp

December 20-22, 2019, at Sunday River
This training camp focuses on slalom and giant slalom. Gould coaches provide athletes with a great early season volume of gate training. There are gate drills leading into full-length courses in both disciplines. Athletes are grouped by age and experience with an athlete to Gould coach ratio of approximately 6:1. Work with Gould’s high school coaches who have trained Olympic and Division I ski racers.

Lodging

On Mountain: Special rates at the Grand Summit Hotel are available to our campers for on-mountain accommodations. Details available in the welcome email.

Bethel Area: Lodging options in the Bethel, Maine, area range from hotels and motels for any budget, large vacation homes for families or groups, slopeside properties, historic inns and B&Bs, lakeside rentals, and camping out under the stars. Visit the Bethel Area Chamber of Commerce.

LES DEUX ALPES U14/U16 SUMMER SKI CAMP

June 2020

Join Gould Academy full time coaches for an excellent summer ski training opportunity. This camp is for rising U14/16s held at Les Deux Alpes in France. Les Deux Alpes offers outstanding conditions on the largest glacier in Europe. The camp’s focus will be on fundamentals as well as Giant Slalom and Slalom. Lodging will be at one of the Hotels in the village that is walking distance to the lift. We will be eight days on-snow plus one day off-snow day with activities.

Fall Trampoline Dryland Camp (Freestyle)

November 16-18, 2019 at Gould/Sunday River Ages: 8-16

At our Gould Competition Program Ski/Trampoline Camp/Dryland camp, athletes will have the opportunity to prepare for the winter through a variety of activities. They will use Gould’s tramp room and foam pit to practice tricks and will work on improving fitness.

Weather and terrain permitting, campers will also have the opportunity to take their tricks from the trampoline to the airbag if temperatures permit. 

The cost of this three-day camp covers coaching, use of Trampoline facilities and lift tickets. There is lodging available at Sunday River Resort and in the town of Bethel at special camp rates.

Early Season Freestyle Camp

Ages: 8-16

This camp is all about getting back on-snow early at Sunday River Resort where there is the most reliable snow in the East. Sunday River provides great snow and terrain features that you don’t want to miss out out on, and this camp focuses on getting your jump and rail game back and progressing to the next level. The cost of this three-day camp covers coaching and lift tickets. There is lodging available at Sunday River Resort and in the town of Bethel at special camp rates.

March Freestyle Training Camp

March 2020 TBD, at Sunday River
March is awesome!  The Parks at Sunday River are in their prime and the weather and snow conditions are at their best. Whether you qualified for Nationals or you just want to put the final touches on your tricks, this is the time to put all your hard work from the season together by utilizing Gould’s trampoline, BigAirBag and the mountain’s prime conditions. The cost of this three-day camp covers coaching and lift tickets. There is lodging available at Sunday River Resort and in the town of Bethel at special camp rates.

Freestyle Mount Hood Training Camp

July 2020 TBD
Athletes ages 12-18
Train moguls and/or slopestyle with us at Mount Hood, OR. We will have coaches working with athletes in both moguls and slopestyle. Our mogul athletes will be training on the upper glacier on a seeded mogul course with a competition spec jump. Our slopestyle athletes will be joining up with MHSSC utilizing the public park as well. Please Note: athletes interested in training in both disciplines will be able to do so.

Snowboard Early Season Kickstart Camp (Race)

December 13-15, 2019, at Sunday River | Ages: 10-16
Start the season off right by using the best progression terrain in the East at Sunday River Resort. The race group trains on all aspects of snowboard racing (BX, GS, SL) by focusing on sound fundamental skills for turning, gliding, air, and starts. We may not have a full course for this camp, but we will have two synchronized drop gates for use with starts. Stubbie gates will also be set to improve speed performance. Coaches will use iPads for on-hill video feedback. Lodging is available at Sunday River Resort and in the town of Bethel at special camp rates.

Snowboard Early Season Kickstart Camp (Freestyle)

December 13-15, 2019, at Sunday River | Ages: 10-16

Start the season off right by using the best progression terrain in the East at Sunday River Resort. Freestyle riders work on taking their tricks from the trampoline to an airbag to snow. Riders will use Gould’s indoor trampoline and foam pit to learn new tricks and trick combinations. If weather allows, we’ll also use our on-campus airbag, our private Sunday River airbag, or both. We’ll also have access to Sunday River’s three terrain parks for progression on all types of boxes, rails, and jump features. This group also sessions rails to dial-in new tricks for the competition season ahead. We will use iPads for on-hill video assessment. Lodging is available at Sunday River Resort and in the town of Bethel at special camp rates.

World Cup Parallel Snowboard Camp (PGS/PSL)

January 2-4, 2020, at Sunday River | Ages: 10-16
Join Lynn Ott, World Cup Parallel Athlete, as well as Gould Academy’s elite coaches and athletes for three days of next-level training and competition. Dedicated hill space serviced by our brand-new service lift will help riders get in an unmatched number of laps on professionally set courses. Tactics and technique for both PGS and PSL will be coached as well as freecarve and freeride technique. Riders in both hard- and soft-boot setups will learn how to be better over-all snowboarders, making them better racers as well. Camp concludes Saturday with a double doubleheader USASA race series (2 x PGS, 2 x PSL) at Sunday River (USASA membership and competition fees apply and are not included in camp fees). Coaches will use iPads for on-hill video feedback. Lodging is available at Sunday River Resort and in the town of Bethel at special camp rates.

World Cup SBX Snowboard Camp (SBX) 

February 14-16, 2020 at Sunday River
Join Mikey Lacroix, World Cup Snowboardcross athlete and Gould Academy class of 2016 along with Gould Academy’s elite coaches and athletes for a long weekend of next-level training and competition. Start off on on Thursday at Sunday River’s Hole Shot and Rev Tour caliber SBX course complete with Settele World Cup start gate. Follow it up with official USASA Training and two USASA BX/SX Events. Camp will wrap up with feedback and video to take home and use to chase an invite to the USASA National Championships. You’ll have access to Gould Academy facilities, technology, and world-class coaching that has sent countless athletes to US Ski and Snowboard Project Gold camps, USASA National Championships, FIS Junior World Championships, and Youth Olympic Games.

USASA Nationals Snowboard Prep Camp

(SS, BX,GS, SL, and RJ)

March 14-16, 2020, at Sunday River
This elite-level camp is designed for those expecting to be invited to the USASA National Championships. Three riding groups (Alpine, Freestyle, Boardercross) will train on Sunday River’s spectacular terrain with Gould Academy’s world-class coaches and select invited guest coaches from successful programs up and down the East Coast. Riders will leave this camp with clear training plans for success at USASA Nationals. These plans can easily be shared with home coaches as well.

ALPINE
Train riding fundamentals, BX, GS, and SL, on hard or soft gear. We’ll use our state of the art Alpine Tree start gates to practice start technique, train with SPM stubbies, and use on-hill video feedback for maximum progression. Camp will climax with a dress rehearsal GS and SL with timing on Monday, March 16 (all riders together, no age groups).

FREESTYLE
Train riding fundamentals, jumps, rails, and run planning on Sunday River’s parks. T72 is our big park with 20, 30, 40-foot jumps, all with big and little takeoffs. T72’s rail garden has fun features and should mimic any rail setups we’ll see at USASA Nationals. 3D is our medium park, and will only be available Saturday, March 14. Whoville is our progression park, perfect for learning new tricks. Weather permitting, we will use Gould Academy’s on-campus airbag jump as well. We will use on-hill video feedback for maximum progression.

BOARDERCROSS
Train BX fundamentals, starts, gliding, turning, and transition riding. Daily start training will be offered using our Settele World Cup start gate (the same as at Nationals) as well as GS training for turning skills. Tuck and glide training will help riders dial in speed, which we’ll confirm with our radar gun. Full laps on our BX course, Flowstate, will help riders work on banked turns, feature riding, and passing. We will use on-hill video feedback for maximum progression. Camp will climax with a dress rehearsal race on Sunday, March 16, including time trials and heats (all riders together, no age groups).
