French Language Camp
Parlons Français! – New for 2019!
July 15 – July 19, 2019
Open to girls and boys ages 10 to 13 (entering grades 5 – 8).
This day camp offers a fun and interactive introduction to the French language and francophone culture. Students will be exposed to French through songs, games, movement, storytelling, arts + crafts, theatre, and other hands-on activities. By the end of the week, students will be able to recognize and produce many French words and phrases. On the last day, parents are invited to a final presentation which will feature skits, songs, demonstrations of games and activities, and a display of student work.

10:30 am La pause goûter (snack break)

11:00 am Le théâtre (skits)
11:45 am La fin de la journée (closing activity, song)

Darcy is a Maine-certified teacher with more than 10 years of experience with students from pre-k to grade 12. Inspired by her French-Canadian heritage, she spent her first year of college in a French immersion program. She ran the English Studies Program at Gould Academy for 9 years and also created and taught several French enrichment programs for local children. She is trained in the Oral Proficiency Interview protocol and has given presentations for teachers on techniques to encourage students to speak in the target language. She has traveled to Canada, China, England, and France. She lives on campus with her husband, Jason (Technology Director), their daughters Isabel ’20 and Allison ’24, their little dog Marty, and many fish.
