Zion National Park, UT
Second state (Utah), and second park (Zion National Park). We drove through some amazing country today. Starting with the high desert just outside of the Grand Canyon, followed by some amazing rock structures, we crossed the Colorado River, and then proceeded up to some higher altitudes that had real forests. It was great to see trees of normal size again. The boys especially enjoyed standing on the bridge over 400 feet above the river, it was a LONG, LONG way down.
Then we got to Zion, and hiked to the Virgin River. The water was cold but a few of us braved the frigid snow melt off and waded up the river a bit. We are still defrosting.Tomorrow we are going to hike up to Angels Landing. It should be both beautiful and exciting. Then some of us are going to try to find a couple of slot canyons to explore. Come back to see what we find.
