Wrapping up the Season
Two weekends ago Lilo, Livy, Izzy Chase, and I traveled to Vermont for our last Bill Koch League Festival in Chittenden. As many of you probably know this is festival one level below the J2 Festival. Kids of all ages can race, participate in different activities and have fun being outside. Saturday there was a two kilometer skate relay and on Sunday there was a four kilometer classical race. Both races were fun and pretty relaxed. I had my first falling-at-the-beginning-of-the-race experience, it wasn’t great, because I then had to pass several people while going up a hill. It was unfortunate, but Livy and I still killed it!
The next weekend Duncan, Schyler, and many other BOC members headed up to Fort Kent for the J2 Festival. I briefly talked to Duncan and Jenny Wilbraham (BOC member), and they both said that the festival was amazing. While the U16s were at the J2 Festival, Lilo, Livy, and I headed back over to Vermont for the Grand Prix. This was my first International race, which sounds like a big deal but international only meant a few people from Canada. This was a two part race, the first one being in Quebec, the winner of both the races would be the North American Champion. We did not qualify for this title as we didn’t go to the first race. This meant that I got to ski my heart out and then watch a ten year old ski the same distance pretty much as fast as me. This can be a little disappointing, but it’s a good experience to have.
This was the last race for us, which means I probably will not be blogging as much. So good luck to everyone going to Eastern High Schools this weekend at Black and enjoy the spring skiing!
