Will the Circle Be Unbroken…

OVERHEARD IN SPANISH CLASS: “Hey, Gracie finally “Gracied” someone else!”

Last weekend at the Academy saw a terrific production of GREASE performed on our stage. It was fantastic, and the cast, crew, and orchestra deserve manymanymany kudos for their hard work.

And now it’s time for one of my favorite moments in the theater- the set strike.

Don’t get me wrong, I love putting on a show. And most people never get to see the process, only the product. They don’t know how many times “that dance” was practiced.

(Trivia fact: This is the first time that this has ever happened, but this spring I awoke one morning with an entire dance choreographed in my head. True fact)

So here are a couple (full disclosure: couple=three) photos of our set strike. It took seven weeks to build our set, props, and costumes. It took two hours to make them disappear.
