WGME/FOX23’s News Coverage of Gould’s Spirit Cup Rally
(Bethel, Maine)–Gould Academy students rose out of bed waaaaay before the sun today to help WGME-TV, FOX23-TV and the Good Shepherd Food Bank raise awareness of hunger in Maine.
Part of the School Spirit Challenge, a friendly competition between Gould Academy and eight other high schools throughout Central and Southern Maine, today’s televised event was full of (collecting) food, flips, and lots and lots of fun. Need more proof? Check out our own video coverage:
Of course, Gould’s real School Spirit Challenge continues as students have from now through Friday, Feb. 27, to raise as many pounds of food for the Good Shepherd Food Bank as possible. The students’ goal is 100k pounds of food, which would easily help the Good Shepherd Food Bank meet their goal of over 1 million pounds of food since starting the School Spirit Challenge three years ago.
With every dollar earned equaling 5 pounds, Gould’s goal is not out of the realm of possibility.
Should Gould Academy win this year’s prized spirit challenge cup, the local food pantry here in Bethel also stands to win big. In fact, HALF of the money Gould raises would be given to the Bethel Area Food Pantry in the form of a check or added to their Good Shepherd Food Bank account.
