We’ve arrived!

February 17, 2012

Well, we have arrived in Beijing after many, many, many, many… hours of traveling.  With the time change, it feels as though we have been traveling for 48 hours.  Needless to say, we were all extremely excited to get off the plane and we enjoyed our view of a neon-lit Beijing.  Our first dinner was arranged by our two senior guides, Christina Xiang and Jason Huang, together with Martha Whittington and the kids enjoyed their first authentic Chinese meal.  I was especially impressed by the number of kids who were willing to jump right in and taste unfamiliar food – we had a really fun meal with them tonight.  The menu included pork dumplings, spicy chicken and carrots, tofu in sauce, duck, and taro among other things.  The spicy beans and eggplant were the big hit at our table.  Since I am falling asleep as I type, I will let you see the rest of the day in pictures.  Tomorrow we are off to the Great Wall of China!!!

The waiting game

37 students, 36 bags... (last one coming tomorrow).

The first meal...Don't ask, just taste.
