Welcoming Day in Chengdu!

March 24, 2014

Wow, this day felt like four days in a very good and full way! There was a wonderful welcoming ceremony in the morning where each of our students were given a school uniform by their host. Danny promptly put his on! Our group then had a chance to work our artistic abilities with the tradition of paper cutting. We were taken for an afternoon outing with Steven, one of the English teachers who spent a month with us at Gould in 2012. This was a special treat! We toured around the Manjushri Monastery and the Jinsha Site Museum. The group started to deflate, so we made a pit stop for food and caffeine at Zoo Coffee to prepare us for English Corner. English Corner is part of the Chengdu students’ schedule; it’s a time that they really commit to speaking in English. They were so interested in talking to all of us! Our students then went off to their homes, and Jay and I had a wonderful Hot Pot dinner with Steven and another teacher. Here are some pictures of a few of these events.
