The first eastern Cup weekend of the year is always an adventure, though this years will be one to remember. The team opened the weekend with a solid showing in in the Skate sprint. Coach Bailey couldn’t pass up a chance to race. All his hard work chasing the kids paid off qualifying 29 overall and making the rounds.

For me the day was special getting to see Gould Alumni racing for there respective colleges, Molly(Dartmouth), Andrew (Umaine Presque Isle), Kyle (Saint Lawrence), and Sadie(Bates). Kyle qualified for the U20 rounds working his way through to the B final and 10th place!

Sunday morning started like any other race day, up at 6:00am to check the weather and finish preping race skis. Once the sun came up we noticed that the day may not go as expected. Kids went about getting breakfeast and getting ready to load the van as I made a few calls to see the status of the race. After the news focus switched to figuring out what to do and how to get back to Maine. Staying at my house had it purks at this juncture, we fired up the snowmobile, groomed up the trails, and built a few jumps!
The following pictures were taken near the Outdoor Center, you can see why they canceled the race.
