U.S. National Nordic Skiers Return to Gould for Fast and Female.
Top U.S. female Nordic skiers competing at the U.S. Nationals in Rumford, ME will be at Gould Academy on Saturday, January 7 for the Fast and Female event. It’s the second consecutive year Gould has hosted the event.
Fast and Female is a Canadian based organization dedicated to empowering young women through sport. It was created by 2006 Olympic cross country skiing gold medal winner Chandra Crawford.
From 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. U.S. Cross Country Ski Team members including World Cup Medalist Sadie Bjornsen and National Team Member Jessie Diggins will be at the Gould field house leading team building activities for girls ages nine to 19. The afternoon will also include stories from athletes, autographs and a Zumba class.
It’s a tremendous opportunity for young girls and young women to meet and be inspired by these top athletes.
Parents and coaches are also encouraged to attend a “Coaching Female Athletes” seminar from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m featuring a panel of top college coaches including: Bates College Head Nordic Ski Coach Becky Woods, Colby College Head Nordic Ski Coach and Athletic Director Tracey Cote, and Dartmouth College Head Nordic Ski Coach Cami Thompson Graves.
