Trains (no planes) and Automobiles

March 26, 2013

After 26 hours of travel across India by train (21 hours) and a van ride from the plains up into the foothills of the Himalayas (six hours) we have arrived.  The trip was relaxing, the trip was exhausting , the trip was full of cultural value.  Two quick examples –

Demetri dancing in the train ilse wearing a turban  while a large group of folks played traditional music from India singing and clapping encouragement.

Having Brendon, Ms Head, Izzy, Anna, Demetri and Mr Baker getting doused with color as part of an early Holi Celebration on the train this morning!  Please google   https://www.google.co.in/search?q=holi+celebration+in+india&hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=PBD&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=OMhRUYSlHYbgkAWv3IG4BA&ved=0CC8QsAQ&biw=1280&bih=601

We have arrived safely….more tomorrow.
