This Weekend at Gould Academy 12/6-12/7
Gould Academy is proud to host the Mahoosuc Arts Council’s Main Event – The Nutcracker Ballet – this Saturday, Dec. 6, at 3 p.m. in the Bingham Hall auditorium. Tickets for this event are $15 and should be purchased online through mahoosucarts.org.
Also on Saturday, Dec. 6, at 6:30 p.m., Gould will welcome back to its campus local artist Veronica Cross. During this free to the public event, Veronica will sit with Portland Press Herald arts writer, Daniel Kany, for a live discussion about her current work, which is on display now in Gould’s Owen Art Gallery through Dec. 17. Saturday’s event will take place in the Trustees Auditorium located in the McLaughlin Science Center.

On Thursday, Dec. 11, Gould Academy will kick off a second year of its partnership – The Richard Blanco Visiting Writers Program and Retreat – with local resident and inagural poet, Richard Blanco, who is visiting Gould to read from his newest book and memoir, The Prince of Los Cocuyos (2014). This reading is a free event and open to the public and will take place in the Binghall Hall auditorium starting at 7 p.m. Following the reading, there will be a “winter wonderland-themed” reception with refreshments and a book signing in the Bingham Hall gymnasium.
And if the winter wonderland that is Bingham Auditorium during Thursday’s reception doesn’t entice you to get on skis and enjoy winter, then the Sunday River Ski and Snowboard Club’s premier of Warren Miller’s newest film, “No Turning Back” most certainly will. Join the Sunday River Ski and Snowboard Club on Saturday, December 13, here at Gould Academy for a fun event aimed at helping to raise money for local winter athletes of all ages and abilities. Doors to thee Bingham Hall auditorium will open at 7 p.m. (movie will start at 7:30 p.m.) and tickets can be purchased in advance. For a sneak peak of the movie, check out the trailer below.
