The Last Firsts
Hello out there to all you parents, teachers, students, alums, or anyone else who might be reading this post and WELCOME to another year of the Glog! After three years of reading the Glog, I am really excited to finally be writing for it. For those of you who are new to reading the Glog, welcome to your behind-the-scenes look at the one and only, Gould Academy. For all of you who have read the Glog before..well..you know the drill.
I guess I should start by telling you a few things about myself, so here’s the rundown.
My name is Isabel, but my friends call me Izzy. I’ve been at Gould for four years now, and I’m a day student. I’m really into alpine ski racing, and I like History, writing, traveling, riding my road bike, playing soccer, and singing loudly, to name a few.
We’ve been back at school for about a month now, and a lot of stuff has been happening. Sports, different clubs, classes, tests, papers, formal dinners, assemblies, dish duty, study halls, dances, weekend trips, the search for a new headmaster, the anticipation of mountain day….the list goes on and on.
Being a senior and everything, I’ve been spending a lot of time thinking about all of these things this past month, all of the “last-firsts”. My last first formal dinner, my last first class, my last first home soccer game. I mean yeah, it’s really exciting to finally be a senior, but it’s also pretty sad to think that this year is the last time I will be doing any of this. Bittersweet, to say the least, but I’d never really thought of any of this before, until now. But I guess without the last-firsts, we’d never really be able to appreciate the first-firsts, would we?
So here’s to embracing those last-firsts, because you never know what they might be.
Until next time!
