Thanksgiving Camp and Winter Term get Started
On Sunday afternoon Gould Academy welcomed the 2012-2013 Winter Term skiers to campus and had a beautiful banquet for the skiers and their parents. The nordic team is psyched to have Schuyler Leff joining us! Here he is at the banquet:
The winter term skiers arrived on Sunday night, and Monday morning most teams took off for training. Snow was falling on campus, the lifts were turning at Sunday River, and it was a beautiful day for Nordic to hop in the bus and head up to Cananda! What should we bring?
We arrived safe and sound at the Stoneham Resort just north of Quebec. Our accommodations at Chalets Alpins are very nice as usual :). Upon arrival the skiers went for a jog to shake the bus ride out of their legs, then we had dinner a quick team meeting.
Interestingly, the drive up from Bethel took us by three of the nine major operating wind projects in the state of Maine: the Spruce Mountain Wind Project which is just south of Bethel in Bryant Pond; the Record Hill Wind Project just west of Rumford in Roxbury Pond; and the Kibby Mountain Wind Project in Eustis, which by output capacity is the largest project in the state, at more than 2 times the capacity of the 2nd largest. It was cold and windy… brr!
