Tanzania Travelers at Tumaini Junior School

March 19, 2014

Hello Everyone,

I had a call from Matt Ruby this morning, and then this email below.  All is WONDERFUL in Tanzania!

Enjoy the post and pictures.  I can’t wait till they send us more.

Best regards,

Pat Donovan

Greetings from the 7th form classroom at the Tumaini Junior School!  That means we’re right on schedule. Everyone is well and doing a great job travelling.

Our travel went off without a hitch. Modest Bayo (TJS founder and our safari guide) and Mr. Melchi met us at Mt. Kilimanjaro Airport in Arusha when we arrived at 8:50 pm.
We stayed in Arusha last night and made the 3 hour drive to TJS in Karatu this morning (while you slept). On the drive students saw baboons, Masai herding their cattle, giant termite mounds, and the wall of the Great Rift Valley. Despite the time shift, there was little napping; we were in super absorption mode.
Once at TJS we ate lunch with school administration and the student homestay hosts. Within minutes of finishing lunch the host and Gould students left chatting,  many hand in hand.
It’s 3:25 and school just ended. I’m listening to the laughing, singing and play of 600 K-7th graders as they end their school day.
We’ll send pictures as soon as were able.
All the best from Tanzania!
Matt Ruby
