Susan Webster: From One Place to Another

Susan Webster is a visual artist who lives in Deer Isle, Maine. Her experience includes artist-in-residence positions at the Maine Correctional Center, where she created a nationally recognized art program, the University of the Arts, and the College of the Atlantic. She has been the recipient of fellowships from the Women’s Studio Workshop and the Great Spruce Head Island Retreat. She has taught at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts; Women’s Studio Workshop; Oregon College of Art and Crafts; Penland School of Crafts; the Books Arts Institute at the University of Southern Maine; Studio Works Jerusalem, Israel; as well as other public and private educational settings.
Recent Exhibits include the following: University of the Arts and Tyler School of Art, (PA); Center for Maine Contemporary Art; Manhattan Graphics Center; University of Maine, Farmington and USM; George Marshall Gallery, (ME); Pearson Legacy Gallery, (ME); St. Mark’s School Gallery, (MA); a traveling year long exhibit -Painters, Players and Poets, (ME); Elizabeth A. Beland Gallery, (MA); Southern Graphics Council Conference 2012 Exhibit, (LA); Aarhus Gallery, (ME); Studio 53, (ME), Lord Hall Gallery, University of Maine. Susan’s work is in the permanent collections of the University of Maine, Orono, and the US Department of State, Washington, DC.
In 2011, she received the Bill Bonyun Artist/Educator Award from the Maine Alliance for Arts Education, for outstanding work as an artist and teacher.
