Sports news from the field

Sparks_LeahFrom Girls’ Varsity Soccer Coach Leah Sparks:

“The ladies played a beautiful first half at Hebron [Academy] on Saturday–passing, moving, talking, winning 50/50 balls. Julia Getman ’16 scored two goals (that girl will run through a wall to get the ball!) putting us up 2-0 at the half.  And then came the second half…can we just not talk about it? And then came a third, and we were down 3-2. We finally started to get our head back on, and Millie Detels ’18–who has a great foot, but not quite the confidence to always use it–tied it up for us. Final score 3-3. We’ll see Hebron again on Saturday, however, we’re losing two players from an already shallow bench to the European ski trip. Hopefully the crowd support will make up for it!”(Left to right: Julia Getman and Milly Detels)

Whipple_TJ 08From Boys’ Varsity Soccer Coach T.J. Whipple:

“The boys played hard, but the fast home field turf proved to be a big advantage for Kents Hill. David Lozeau ’16 and Gregorio Ghika ’18 both has numerous shots, a couple bouncing off the post/crossbar, but nothing went go in. Our defense was strong, but they snuck one in past us right in the first few minutes before we got used to the field.” (Boys’ Varsity Soccer played Kents Hill on -Saturday, October 1o. Lynch, DaveFrom JV Boys’ Soccer Coach Dave Lynch:

“JV Boys’ also played Hebron on Saturday and won 1 – 0. Ray Chen ’18 got a breakaway early in the game for the goal. Hebron ended up missing a penalty kick; our defense played strong, especially at end of the game. Sasha Kokes ’18 got the shut out!”(Left to right: Sasha Kokes and Ray Chen)
