Prep Alpine Slalom

The Prep Alpine Team accompanied by coaches Drew and Brucie, kicked off our MAISAD season opener at Kents Hill with a slalom competition today. The snow conditions were amazing, a perfect track for both runs and air temp chilly at best. The athletes scored some great results.

For the men’s team, several athletes had top-10 finishes, including Sam Sherwood, who won the race by .02. Zach Hamadeh finished 4th and Sam Cusano 7th, as well as strong results for James Nagel, Mikiya Hoshiai, James Yang, and Zach Vlcek.

For the women’s team, several athletes also had top-10 finishes including Cate Maccini finishing 2nd, Maddie Papianou finishing 3rd, and Sophie Dillon finishing 7th. Celeste Fisher, who after a blistering first run was Dsq on her second run for a rare straddle, also had strong results. Kate Saidy showed true grit and, after imploding just before the finish line first run, she persevered and put fear aside to attack the course on her second run.

These athletes were thrilled with the opportunity to race today. They bonded as a team and brought home a huge team win with Husky pride!  Well done Huskies!
