See the image below? It’s like Christmas come early!! Nearly 14 pages on Gould Academy included in the November Maine Home + Design on stands now.
As a communications professional, an end result like this one is just one reason why I love my job. It’s also a bit like seeing two worlds of mine collide.
See, a little over a year ago I was working as the Director of Communications for Sunday River and we reached out to Maine Home + Design to produce a resort specific issue. The idea was to showcase the resort and area through a magazine by partnering with another great Maine brand, Maine Home + Design. My job was fairly simple – work with their editors, writers, and photographers, and help them with story ideas, interviews, and whatever else they may need. One of the story ideas we all agreed upon was a feature that explained the special partnership between Sunday River and Gould Academy.
To get the ball rolling, I reached out to Tucker–as I knew him, or Mr. Kimball as many of you know him–and asked him to help me set up interviews and a tour for the writer assigned to the story. We all met at Gould on a VERY cold March morning, and from there everything came together perfectly. The writer left that day with the information she needed, Mr. MacKnight helped the photographer get the shots they wanted for the story, and Tucker and I continued to track down information. Even then I was confident that this story would turn out great.
Fast forward to today and I now sit where Mr. Kimball sat, working on various ways to promote Gould Academy, and am beyond happy with how it all turned out (including the article).
Oh, and the artful magazine layout you see from page to page? Maine Home + Design’s art director also happens to be a Gould Alumna! My goal for a Glog post down the road is to set up an interview with her so that you all can meet her. Until then, grab a copy and a good cup of coffee and enjoy!
