Nolan Monroe Skates Gould
So, the thing is I’ve known Nolan Monroe since he was this crazy gifted grom, long before he did Tampa Am vert, long before he did Oregon Trifecta, and before he won Marseille. Nolan came up for a couple days to skate with the Gould Academy team. The photos are of him at the Gould indoor park, but there’s footage on the way as well.
We drove to L/A (a.k.a. Lewiston/Auburn, ME) to skate Sloppy Sam’s beautiful Lewiston Skatepark. There we met up with Bump Skateboards team riders, Chris Peterson and Elijah Akerley. Nolan and Chris have skated together for years. It was great to see them trading runs. They even did a couple doubles runs. We skated a plaza spot in Auburn along the river. Chris tried a hard flip down a steep stair-set with the Androscoggin River just beyond. After his board bit him in the head, Chris set aside the project for now. We ended up skating the Bethel Skatepark on Thursday with little bursts of rain that never slowed up. Finally, when it hailed, I called practice and Nolan headed back home to Southern New Hampshire to celebrate Rye Airfield’s 10th anniversary.
