New Exhibit: “Thinking Caps and Other Accessories”
Bethel, Maine (September 22, 2014)–Gould Academy will welcome Portland, Maine artist Crystal Cawley to its Owen Art Gallery September 26 through October 15, 2014.
Cawley’s exhibit, entitled “Thinking Caps & Other Accessories” will be featured as part of Gould Academy’s annual Alumni Weekend (September 26 – 28) and is scheduled to open on Friday, September 26 from 6:30 – 8 p.m.
Cawley’s work combines letterpress printing, embroidery, and the re-use of discarded materials like library cards and old book pages.
About Crystal Cawley–Ms. Crawley received Good Idea Grants from the Maine Arts Commission in 2004 and 2010, and was the recipient of a Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant for 2005-2006. Her art is in many public collections, including the Boston Public Library, Bowdoin College Library, Portland Museum of Art, RISD Library, the Library of Congress, and has been exhibited throughout the US and in England and Greece.
