Molly Siegel ’12 Named to Nordic Junior National Team
Gould Academy senior Molly Siegel of Bethel, ME has earned a spot to compete at the USSA Nordic Junior Nationals event in Midway, Utah from March 2-11.
“Molly being named to the Junior National team is a great accomplishment,” said Gould Academy Head Nordic Coach Tim Whiton. “It is the culmination of a lot of hard work on her part and it shows her skiing has come to a new level this season, setting her up very well for racing next year for Dartmouth College.”
Siegel earned her spot on the New England Junior National Team on February 19 after placing 10th in the 10km at the 2011-2012 TD Bank Eastern Cup in Craftsbury, VT. She was the second J1 overall, a finish that further solidified her place on the team. She is one of a handful of New England’s fastest J1 skiers headed to Utah and the only J1 on the team from Maine.
“I am so glad I have this opportunity to go out West and experience a new level of racing. I am mostly excited to explore a new locale and to ski on the same course that was used in the 2002 Olympics!” said Siegel. “I am so grateful for the excellent coaching I have had this year. It has such a positive impact when my coaches can work one-on-one or often three-on-one with me to develop an individual training and racing plan.”
Siegel also said that she is excited for the opportunity to race in Utah because it will give her a chance to get to know the skiers she will race with at Dartmouth next year.
