Ayo Husky Nation! (Which, at this point, should be just about around the globe!)
This weekend was a very special weekend as I went on my first Midnight Madness this year!
For those of you who don’t know what Midnight Madness is, it’s basically one of the greatest traditions at Gould that happens a couple of times each school year. Leaving campus later in the night, students embark on a late night journey that is special and ‘new’ in the sense that it disrupts our usual schedule. One of my favorite Midnight Madness ever was last year when we went bowling at Yankee Lanes, then to eat a midnight snack at Denny’s on Congress St., and finally shopping at 2am in L.L. Bean in Freeport. As always, this event is hosted by the lovely Ms. Oliver, who makes the trip even more special.
On Saturday night, Ms. Oliver and I planned a trip out to Smitty’s Cinema in Biddeford. If you don’t know this place, it’s pretty cool because it’s a movie theater and a restaurant as well, meaning you can get table service during the movie.
As we wanted some thrills, we decided to go see Guillermo Del Toro’s newest film, called Mama. At first, many of us were scared to go see the movie, but we all ended up watching the new horror flick starring the wonderful Jessica Chastain. It was a lot of laughs and screams (in fact, Caitlin Deck ’13 couldn’t make it through the whole movie) and a TON of food (we ate over fifteen baskets of fries!).
We were going to go shopping at LL Bean once again afterwards, but everyone was too scared to venture out again. To say the least, it was a lot of laughs (even some crying) and everyone had a blast. We returned to campus around 2 a.m. and (those who could forget the scary movie) went straight to bed.
I can’t wait ‘till the next Midnight Madness. Any suggestions, Husky Nation? Ms. Oliver wants to know!
See ya next week,
