Every week is an eventful week! When I wrote last week’s GLOG this little black calf hadn’t been born yet! She gave birth early Thursday morning to a big healthy boy. Last year there was a large audience for the birth of the first cow. This year she was a little more private!
One afternoon I was struck with this image- Luke found the back of Ordway Dining Hall kitchen to be a nice place to work on his drawing portfolio! Classes aren’t stuck in the “classroom buildings.”
The maple trees are tapped, the sap is flowing, and the evaporator is set up in front of Ordway. We’ll need a lot of wood to make maple syrup. It takes about 40 gallons of sap to make one gallon of syrup. For one gallon, therefore, we need to change about 35 gallons of liquid water to gas. Here Rosemary and Alice are moving and stacking the wood we’ll burn.
The pig… Peering up at the camera, probably wondering why the photographer isn’t just getting him some food!
Before the next GLOG we will have finished some syrup, shorn some sheep, and mended some fence. There’s never a shortage of things to do!
Until next week,
HAPPY 4th BIRTHDAY to Reiley’s cousin KATE!
