Maine Alpine Racing

The U19 and U16 skiers had their 3rd USSA GS race at Sugarloaf yesterday. The athletes faced fairly chalky but overall good surface conditions. We raced against CVA, Kent’s Hill, UMaine Farmington, and St. Joseph’s College. There were approximately 50 men and 50 women in the Maine Alpine Racing Association (MARA) seeded race.

On the men’s side

The men had a very respectable day, with Ethan Bouchard taking the top U16 spot, and coming in 2nd overall. Bobby Turner was right behind him, taking 3rd place overall, and the 2nd U19 position. The overall winner was Liam Strobeck from St. Joseph’s College. Our other Gould athletes who took the top 15 were:
Chris Pyle – 7th
Jesse Mize – 13th

On the women’s side

CVA had a good day, taking the top 4 honors. The top Gould athlete was Kayla Hosmer, coming in 5th place overall. Hosmer was 3rd in the 2nd run. She is looking more and more confident on the new 30m GS skis every day. Her second run looked more like how she’s been skiing in training this past week. Other Gould athletes who made the top 15 were:

Cassie Pyle – 7th
Riley Jerome – 8th
Peyton Hadfield – 10th
Keara Medieros – 13th
Lillie King – 15th

Next up for Alpine

Next up for our U16 and U19 alpine racers will be the Wes Marco night slalom at Titcomb Mountain.
