Happy Friday!

This week I want to share with you a little construction product that is underway at Gould.

Liam (’13) has an undying passion for hockey! Gould does not have a rink, so he took matters into his own hands and put together a project that would bring hockey right behind Davidson. Due to Mother Nature playing mean tricks on him and the Gould community, Liam has been waiting, very patiently I might add, for the temperatures to be constantly below freezing. Looking at various weather reports, Liam decided that it was time.

I believe the rink is 121’x45′ (Liam, I’m very sorry if the dimensions are off!) Last Sunday, a group of dedicated people got the boards in place so that once the cold weather arrived, all would be ready.  Last night, Mr. Ormiston arranged for the good ‘ole Bethel Fire Department to come to the rink and fill it up.  I ate a quick dinner and hurried over to watch the progress. When I arrived, Mr. Laperle and Mr. Autrey (members of the Bethel Fire Department) had brought down Tanker 1, which holds roughly 1,500 gallons of water.

Here are some pictures:

Mr. Laperle giving us the Thumbs up!

Liam (’13), pulled the short stick and had to roll hose.

As the weeks go by, more layers of ice will be added until there is a smooth surface that even the Bruins would be proud of!

Until Next Week,
