last week of january.
Hello Gould Academy.
I hope everyone had a great weekend! The weather seemed quite bipolar this past week, because the week started off warm and rainy, and then finished off in below-zero temperatures with blistering wind and snow. Because of the gross weather earlier in the week, a previously scheduled “winter carnival” was postponed, and will hopefully take place sometime this week. Winter carnival is an all-school event, where all of the dorms (and day students) go head-to-head in multiple challenges including an brutal on-snow obstacle course, tug of war, and other agility competitions throughout the day. The night before the festivities start, there is also a toboggan race which takes place on the huge hill next to the barn. A huge bonfire at the bottom of the hill also is lit up, and is created by stacking all of the trees from snowball into a teepee-like structure. The trail is also lit up by torches and is a really cool sight to see.
This weekend was pretty fun at Gould, and on Saturday night the whole school went down to cheer on the boy’s basketball who won an exciting game against Pine Tree Academy. In the week leading up to the game, flyers were posted all around school chanting, “BURN THE TREES” and other sayings to try to pump up the school spirit at Gould.
I hope everyone has a good week!
