La Mesa de Español
This week, I’m going to talk about the Spanish table at Formal Dinner.
Every month, there are the lucky few who go and sit at the Spanish table! At the Spanish table, only Español is spoken. This isn’t an easy task, but it has benefits. Speaking Spanish all the time is the best way to learn it! As soon as we sit down, hablamos español. Porque no habláis español, hablo íngles.
Speaking a different language is something that has always fascinated me. This year, my spanish has reached the point where I can converse decently with the Spanish students at Gould. But, when I speak to them in Spanish, they respond in English. Then, I keep speaking in Spanish and once again they respond in English. It is still fun to be able to communicate with someone in their own language.
This March, I’m going to Spain. I’m looking forward to it in so many ways!
So, back to the Spanish table! The problem that we typically run into is the lack of vocabulary. At this point, Spanglish is broken out. Jefe’s (Fellow Glogger) blood pressure visibly, and I mean visibly, goes up. His face becomes red with rage! Then he takes a deep breath, looks at the offender, and tells them the proper word in Spanish.
Since it’s exam week, I really should get back to studying for my exams!
Everyone have a fantastic break!
