Kung Fu and Friendship In Xi’an

March 25, 2015

Our last day in Xi’an was spent at school, with classes in the morning and the three country “Friendship Ceremony” in the afternoon.  The highlight of the morning was a class in the martial art of Kung Fu, taught by an excellent instructor who spent 5 years with Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas.  He mixed serious instruction with good natured fun.  After lunch we gathered for a friendship ceremony with our hosts from Xi’an and the Asahigaoka Private High School from Japan.  Speeches were given, gifts were exchanged, and song, dance, and martial arts were performed.  Our contribution to the performance was a wide range of music, from the Beatles to beatbox.  Then it was off to the farewell dinner, for more speeches and lots of amazing food.  We’re on the road at 8:30 AM tomorrow (China time) and will make it back to Bethel a short 30 hours (give or take) later.  It’s been a great adventure and the time seems to have flown by.  Thank you to our friends at Xi’an Foreign Language School for their incredible hospitality.
