Just Another Xi’an Monday
Today it was back to school for the morning and late afternoon, with a trip to the countryside in the middle of the day. It was great to hear the stories of the different things kids did this weekend, as we gathered this morning. Most took in the local sites and were quick to share tales as they saw Gould friends for the first time in a couple of days. Morning classes ranged from physics and math (taught in Chinese) to English, as our students went to class with their hosts. Then it was off to Yuanjiacun, an old rural village that has been renovated into a cultural village where folks can come to try a wide variety of local foods. Our crew circled the town repeatedly, eating different foods each time around. The discovery of the day came just as we were about to head back to school, when the girls found an obstacle course and bumper cars down a side alley. Fun was had by all before heading back to the city and more classes. First it was off to language (Spanish, French or Japanese were the choices) classes and then English class. Sadly, the basketball game between our group and the local team was canceled due to rain, though our chances weren’t all that good, given the average height of the group.
