Huskies ROMP in opening Homestand
Gould Baseball took on the Mountain Valley Conference this past week and had tremendous success. We defeated both Mt. Abram 9-3 and Telstar 22-8. One of the advantages of being located in Western Maine is that there are many good baseball teams in close proximity. Telstar, for example, was a state semi-finalist last year and they are only five minutes down the road. In fact, Gould and Telstar both feed into the same summer American Legion team. We play Telstar again on May 29th for the Bethel Cup. It will be interesting to see how the teams have developed.
Mt Abram traveled down to Bethel last week and we played a varsity game on Wednesday and then a Varsity/JV game on Thursday. The Mt. Abram team was generously hosted up at Sunday River on Wednesday night by Dana Bullen, parent of Lexi ’14 and Cody ’12 (who is now at Bates), and Jeff Rosenberg, parent of Trent ’13. This is the second year for this event. The plan for next year is to expand and include Mt. Blue High School out of Farmington.
Top Performers for the week:
Trent Rosenberg – 8 innings pitched, securing a win in the Mt Abram game, giving up only 2 earned runs.
