home away from home…

Good morning Gould Academy.
So I’m typing this entry while I look at the thermometer on my mac… Bethel: 30 degrees. This is ridiculous. Is winter already on its way? I feel like it was yesterday that I was sitting in a lawn chair in my backyard melting in the 90 degree summer air. Now, after I take a shower in the morning my hair freezes on the way to breakfast. I guess I better get used to it.

Now, I have no idea how they did it, but a large group of students on Saturday night slept outside in boxes despite the below freezing temperatures. Yes, cardboard refrigerator boxes. Schools all over Maine participated in a fundraiser, “Welcome To My Home,” which supports homeless teens. Students made a small donation, and they were able to spend a night outside, living how these unfourtunate teens live, and were able to realize how grateful they are for their warm beds at night. They were able to bring out as many layers of clothing as they want, and one blanket.

FIELD HOCKEY UPDATE: So on Saturday, field hockey had their third game of the season. We ventured to Kents Hill School, and had an extremely exciting game. We were trailing in the first half, but were able to tie up the score in the last six seconds of the game. An intense seven minutes of overtime play proved to be enough for our players, and Kents Hill scored a point to end the game. Its okay though, because we have another chance to dominate on Wednesday when we play Wayneflete at home. Come check us out!
