Happy Thursday to everyone, and as I’m sure you are aware, I write my Glogs on a Wednesday night while on duty.

Tonight, I have a guest writer, Andrew Nesbitt has volunteered to report on the New England Prep School Athletic Conference championship Nordic race that was held here at Gould.

So take it away Andrew.
Marguerite Wiser on the start line

It was a great day for the Gould Academy Nordic ski program with commanding victories for both the men’s and women’s teams. The championship consisted of two races today, with a 6.5 kilometer freestyle race this morning followed by a 3 kilometer by 4 person relay in the afternoon. Our own Molly Seigel

The freestyle course was a very difficult race, with a lot of hills and some sharp turns and some great down hills. Coach Jeremy Nellis and the volunteers did a great job clearing all the pine cones off the trail and the grooming was excellent.
The women were first to start on the course and Maddy Pfeifer of Proctor Academy won the race with Molly Siegel of Gould in seconded and Andrea Fisher of Holderness finishing third. Other Gould skiers with great finishes were Samantha Southam in 5th, Alice Hotopp in 6th, and Marguerite Wiser in 11th.

On the men’s side, Gould placed 4 racers in the top ten, but the biggest surprise was Andrew Reed of Belmont Hill pulling out a big win for his team with me finishing behind him and Kody Spencer of Holderness placing third. Sophomore Jeb Clarke and senior Peter Cowan both from Gould finished 4th and 5th and Kyle Curry of Gould finished out the top 10. After lunch break in Ordway dining hall, both the Gould men’s and women’s top relay teams finished first.
