Gould Softball Team Wins First Game
(Bethel, Maine) — The Gould Softball team took the diamond for their first game in over five years, with lots of excitement and enthusiasm from both players and spectators.
According to Coach Kristina Stevens, “Gould played great defense with outstanding plays by Ashley Humphreys ’18, Rita Yen ’18, and Elle Burbank ’15, but found themselves down 2-0 heading into the bottom of the sixth. With the heart of the order due up, the girls knew that this was possibly their last chance.”
Elle got things started with a double. Brenna Myles ’18 battled to a full count and then walked. Eva McMillan ’18 poked a double to left-center, scoring Elle. With one out, Brenna stole home on a throw to third, tying the game.
Hebron lost their composure after this, walking the next three out of four batters, and allowed McMillan, Grace Schierwagen ’18, and Kim Drew ’17 to score on passed balls.
Gould sealed the win with a solid defensive inning highlighting Emma and Elle. Final score 5-2 win over Hebron!
