Gould New Years Camp

January 6, 2013

The nordies have been back on campus since the 1st of January, training hard on snow.

Wednesday morning we did skating drills at Pine Hill (which is looking sharp!)

…and in the afternoon we headed over to Telstar for a quick preview of the World Famous Telstar Relays trails, before returning to campus for a strength workout.

Thursday morning we went up to Black Mountain to use their PRO grooming for classic intervals:

and in the afternoon we went back to Telstar for an easy recovery ski and helped set up the stadium:

And Marcello invited us over for a great team dinner and hot tub at Sunday River!  We went through a “Race Prioritization” exercise..

And Friday morning we hit up the Bethel Inn for some classic technique work:

Friday afternoon we waxed skis…

And Saturday morning we came in 2nd at the Telstar Relays!  Nice work to Merriconeag (1st) and Yarmouth (3rd)!

Marcello displaying some pretty good technique, although he is still working on “being less robotic” (obviously there are more photos at dwactionphotos.com)

Freshmen Caleb learned a little bit about mass starts today: get out in front!

And a BIG CONGRATULATIONS to Sadie, who was accepted to Bates Early Decision!

Tonight we did an equipment inventory:

and tomorrow we are headed to Jackson, NH for an OD, and our winter term skier Schuyler will race BKL.  More soon from Gould!
