Gould Competes in School Spirit Challenge

January 13, 2015

default-large-3Bethel, Maine–Maine’s WGME-TV, FOX23, and Good Shepherd Food Bank have invited Gould Academy to be one of the 10 Central and Southern Maine-based schools to compete in their most recent School Spirit Challenge. To win, students from competing schools must figure out a way to raise the most pounds of food for the Good Shepherd Food Bank between now and Friday, February 27, 2015.

As part of the excitement, Gould Academy will also host WGME and FOX23’s Jeff Peterson for a two-hour live show on Friday, January 16, from 6am until 8am. During this live show, Gould will showcase what makes its school great including the students and faculty, many programs, athletics and activities, and, of course, its location in Bethel, Maine.

Bethel area businesses interested in helping the Good Shepherd Food Bank’s cause of fighting hunger in Maine (and includes the local Bethel Food Pantry), are invited to participate.

About: The School Spirit Challenge is a friendly school competition hosted by WGME-TV, FOX23-TV, and the Good Shepherd Food Bank. The school that raises the most amount of food wins, however, it’s the Bethel community who stands to win the most. If Gould wins, the Good Shepherd Food Bank will give a portion back to the Bethel Food Pantry: either half of the funds raised in a check or half of the Shared Maintenance Fee value of the food ($.16/pound – what they’d pay the Food Bank for it) to go on their account at the Food Bank.

Want to help?
1: Donate Funds: Every dollar raised through our fundraiser enables the Food Bank to distribute 5 pounds of food. This means that we can provide more than 400 meals for every $100 raised. For every $1 donated, the Food Bank is able to acquire and distribute food for 4 meals. Donations can be made in cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, and American Express.

2: Visit our virtual food drive. It’s easy, safe, and a great way to help Gould Academy raise food and money for the Good Shepherd Food Bank THROUGH the Good Shepherd Food Bank’s website: http://bit.ly/GouldAcademyFoodDrive.

3: Present a check on behalf of Gould Academy to the Good Shepherd Food Bank during WGME-TV’s live show this Friday, Jan. 16 between 6am and 8am! It’s great PR for even better good will.
