June 6, 2012

BETHEL, Maine – Gould Academy has hired Cumberland Nordic Club founder, Nick Kline, as its new head Nordic coach.

“We are very excited to welcome Nick to the Nordic team and to the Gould Academy Competition Program,” said Mark Godomsky, Gould Academy’s director of on-snow programs. “His experience working with high level Nordic skiers in Cumberland, paired with his time spent coaching and competing at the collegiate and professional level make him a great fit for Gould and our student-athletes.”

Kline formed the Cumberland Nordic Club in 2011. As head coach he oversaw training, travel and served as the New England Junior National Team coach. Prior to the Cumberland Nordic Club, he served as an assistant coach for Colby College’s NCAA

Division I Nordic Team where he qualified three student-athletes for Junior Nationals and two for NCAA Division I Championships.

“Gould Academy is an exceptional environment for student-athletes,” said Kline. “Leading the Nordic team is a privilege and an awesome opportunity to continue to build upon a very competitive program.”

He is a graduate of Colby College where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics. While there he competed on the Nordic team and in the NCAA Division I Championships in 2008 and 2007. In 2008 he was captain and MVP of the team and named to the NCAA All-East Team.

After college, as a member of the Maine Winter Sports Center, he competed in the Scandinavian Cup in Rovaniemi and Muonio, Finland, the North American Cup and USSA Super Tour Series, and was a member of the Cross Country Skiing Elite Team.
