Getting to know Mr. Leach

December 5, 2014

“Swag for Days, man”

This was the first thing that he said when I asked him about the new basketball warm-ups! For those of you who don’t know, this phrase is usually used by teenagers, and this was the first time I heard some one older than 20 use it, so you can understand how excited we were when we found out he was coaching basketball. Here’s the gear he got us:

Mr. Leach is the athletic director, and he is also the Men and Women’s Basketball Head Coach, and the Head Coach of the Men’s Lacrosse. We’re only a couple days into basketball season and he has already made it one of the most fun teams I’ve ever been on. You only have to have one conversation with him to see what a character he is. He gets along with the students and his enthusiasm makes sports at Gould so much better. In order for you guys to like him as much as we do, I did a quick interview with him earlier today:

A: I’m currently working with the Girls Basketball Team and I am excited to bring that back.

Q: Will there be any new sports teams in the Spring?
A: There might be a softball team.

Q: What are your goals for this years’ basketball and lacrosse teams?
A: Enjoy the process, don’t focus on the result, and be successful on and off the playing field.

Q: Is there anything else that we should know about your athletic career?
A: It wasn’t as long as I wanted it to be, so my advice should enjoy the time will they can.

Hopefully this interview shows how cool Mr. Leach is, and if you ever get the chance to meet him, you should.
See you next Friday!
