Chengdu Has Arrived Safely!
After a leaving the dry brown of late winter in Beijing, it is wonderful to come to the warmer, greener climes of early spring in Chengdu (although I was admonished to wear a heavy coat in the evenings because it is quite cold. I assured our host that the 50 degree weather was ok with me.)
We had a smooth flight from Beijing to Chengdu and after leaving the Chengdu airport, quickly arriving at Chengdu Experimental Foreign Languages School (CEFLS). We were greeted by a large sign welcoming us in English and Chinese and a billboard of essays and pictures from the exchange in the fall.
We had about an hour and a half of down time with time to relax and play a bit of basketball. Let’s just say that, while a few members of our group have some skills, it is probably a good thing that we don’t have a formal basketball game scheduled.
We had a little friendly game. I think the final score was something like 20 – 2… but we scored the last basket of the game so that counts for something, right?
When the students had to go back to class after exercise time, we played a game of knock out. Elly Mather proved to be the one to beat.
Then it was time to meet up with our host and head home. I can wait to hear everyones stories on the way to see pandas tomorrow.
