Assembly

February 3, 2010

So today I got to do assembly. Well I’m saying today, but I’m actually writing this post on Wednesday night. So at time of writing I haven’t actually done the assembly….!

Confused…? You will be.

So I’m going to write my entry as if the assembly has taken place…! James Abbot at Mt Abrams

“So I did assembly today, my first in a couple of years. I was a little nervous, as I’m not a great speaker, when I try to be funny, people don’t get it.

Which I find weird. As everyone loves Monty Python right…? And I’m English. Go figure.

So anyway, I introduced myself, talked a little about the snowboard team and what we do on a daily basis. The different disciplines the athletes do, halfpipe, slopestyle, boardercross, slalom and giant slalom.
I gave some interesting facts about snowboarding and the team.
For example: What is the most common first name of athlete on the snowboard team over the past 8 years ?
Chris….. We have had 6, and if you include me 7

Next I announced the athlete of the week, jointly given to Jacob Hall ’11 (who featured in Sunday Rivers video of the day Feb 2nd) and Lauren Tamposi. For their results at the Portland Downtown Showdown. Click here for news article and here for a short video I posted on Youtube.Eric Eramo at Lost valley

I finished the assembly with a short video, (which I tried multiple times to download, with no success) explaining that it was all film with a $129 Sony webbie camera, and edited with iMovie 6.

Surprisingly there was thunderous applause and a standing ovation….!
Oh yeah the assembly hasn’t happened yet. Lets just hope…..

By the way the pictures are from 2 event I went to with the Snowboard Team this weekend. Just thought I’d put them in to add some color..
Until next week.
