Last Saturday the Sassi and Jr. Sassi were supposed to take place, but due to the wind the races were cancelled. I think some of the officials at Black Mountain were worried that the risk of frostbit would be too high and that some of the sixth graders wouldn’t be able to make it out of the starting gate because the head wind would be too strong. So Lilo, Livy, Ben and I drove all the way to Black Mountain Saturday morning for the Middle School race, but once we arrived we found out that the race was cancelled. We were joking that if you had a squirrel suit, or something similar, you could just spread your arms out and be pushed by the wind into the finish. The funny thing about the race being canceled is that the same people drove all the way to Black last year for the Sassi only to find out the race was cancelled due to the rain that was coming down. Isn’t that ironic?
Now to the crazy part of my post.
This week is supposed to be a recovery week for everyone due to the extreme tiredness, that I think most of us are feeling. Things will start to get crazy for us on Thursday with the Tripp Relays, and then on Saturday there is the Flying Moose here at Pinehill. Some of the more intense people will head over to the third Eastern Cup in Vermont. And then to top all these races NEPSACS will be held here at Gould on Wednesday the 11th. As well as Middle School states race in Fryburg and then one again on Saturday.
Then it mellow out for a while…I think.
One last thing: Sunday some of us traveled to Miland, N.H. on Sunday to participate in the Nansen Winter Festival. There was a small turn out from Gould, and we were joined by a few BOC members. Here are some pictures thanks to Savannah.
Stay warm and enjoy the snow!
