Alumnus and Author to Speak About New Novel

Brian F. Walker, author of Black Boy White School, will host a book reading and book signing event at Gould Academy, Tuesday, February 7 at 7:00 p.m. in Trustees Auditorium in the McLaughlin Science Center.

The event is free and open to the public.

A Gould Academy alumnus, Walker’s novel explores the subject of race relations and identity through the eyes of its protagonist Anthony “Ant” Jones, a fourteen year old boy from East Cleveland who attends a predominantly white boarding school in Maine.

Brian F. Walker was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. He attended Gould Academy, graduating in 1983 and was a member of the faculty from 1988 to 1991. For the past seventeen years he has taught high school English, coached basketball, and served as an admissions officer at a prep school in Weston, Massachusetts. He recently won a grant for fiction writing from the Massachusetts Cultural Council, in addition to numerous awards for play-writing, short stories, and journalism. He lives with his wife, Ava, and their daughter, Olivia.
