One more flight! I’m currently sitting in the Anchorage airport for another three hours (wishing I had an earlier flight…) It’s been a really long day and I’m so looking forward to getting to the hotel and going to bed! I left my sister’s apartment at Bowdoin with my mom at 4:30 this morning to make my 6:40 flight out of Portland. I barely made my connection in Chicago, but I did! Some of the Mid A team has been on the same flights as me since Chicago, too. I met up with some of the other NE girls in Seattle which was nice. A three hour flight puts me in Anchorage and at 7:10, I have an hour flight to Fairbanks where (hopefully) my skis, poles, and luggage made it all in one piece. From what I’ve heard from other teammates (and Nick), I’ve had a much smoother travel day than them. Some are still stuck in New England.
So far, Alaska is gorgeous! I’m sitting in my gate (found it, Mom!) looking out at massive mountains. The flight in was gorgeous. I can’t wait to explore, ski, and race in Alaska this week! It’s all becoming so real now that I’m here. I can’t wait to start racing!!!
Good luck to all the J2’s racing this weekend in Holderness! Kick some butt! Wish I could be there, but I’ll be checking results.
