Happy New Year! Chinese new year, that is. Once again, I am blown away by the food and festivities offered here at Gould. Walking into Ordway Dining Hall for Sunday dinner was like walking into another country. Red was the theme- dragons, chop sticks, balloons, special envelopes, lanterns, and trinkets. The food included kim-chi, seaweed salad, tea eggs, dumplings, whole fish, various noodle dishes, soup, and more. The dessert table was right next to the tea table, where several traditional tea pots held 3 different types of tea. Such a treat! Thanks to Martha Whittington and Brian Scheidegger and his crew for pulling it all together!
I know that here at Gould we have some of the top young skier/rider/scholars, but it’s easy to forget about their accomplishments on the hill when I primarily see them on campus. Recently Lauren Tamposi, ’10, won The Copper Mountain Revolution Tour! She’s one of the top young snowboarders in the country. And here on campus she’s a student, a friend, and an over-all great Gould student. And, she’s not the only one making news for what she does on the slopes. In just a few days the freshmen class will be in China, the juniors will be in the woods, and the sophomores will be exploring themselves and their community through art and service. Seniors will be involved with independent projects all over the state, the country, and the world.
As for now, the sun is shining, there’s snow in the forecast, and it’s time to get outside and enjoy!
