Q+A With Gould Students

January 24, 2015

So, below I have these questions that I asked a handful of students. Although I did not ask very many, most students gave an insightful and rather comical response. Please enjoy!

Three goals I have set for myself are: “Travel to at least 6 different countries before I graduate college” “Bike 10,000 miles before the end of the years” “Drop a balloon on (teachers name not disclosed)”

What would you do if all the electricity in the world just stopped? “I would bike”

What happened when you came back home after a long vacation? “I went skiing at Sunday River for a week in February, and when I came home my father had turned the heat in the house down so low that my fish froze in its water bowl and I had to revive it with a space heater. And it came back to life.”

Write about an experience in a hospital: “I was in the hospital because I was having a kidney stone and I was getting up to leave, I hadn’t yet taken the nausea medicine and so when I stood up I immediately felt nauseous. I put my hand over my mouth in an attempt to not vomit, but I ended up vomiting all over the walls.”

Did you ever break a important promise? “I promised my friend that I would stay friends with her even though I wasn’t at school with her anymore. We’re not friends.”

Describe a car or bicycle accident you were in? “I was riding on the handle bars of my friends bike and we were about to take a turn onto a street and my foot got caught in the bike spokes. I flipped over face first onto the pavement with my foot still stuck in the bike wheel. I was overwhelmed with adrenaline and was able to rip my foot out without feeling the pain. Fortunately, a car came up behind us and helped me into her car, gave me an ice pack for my bloody foot, and drove my friend and I back to my friends house.”

Write about a time your parents embarrassed you: “We were driving up the dirt road at my old school for the first time, and my dad goes, ‘hey John, isn’t that one of your friends?’ and he yells, ‘HEY BALTIZAR!’. His name is Babacar.”

If you could uninvent one thing, what would you uninvent? “The iPhone.”

Describe the most difficult thing about being your age: “College writing”

Describe one possession that means the most to you? “My stuffed animal. My sister gave it to me when I was born. It’s sitting on my bed at Gould right now.”

If you had a chance to live anywhere you could, where would it be? “Nepal because it’s really pretty and their culture is very connected to nature which is cool.”

Thanks Gouldies!
