Welcome back! I hope that everyone had a fabulous break, ate some tasty food and had a chance to catch up with family and friends.
To many, Thanksgiving break is a chance to relax. Ironically, I’m staggering back into classes more worn out than I was before break. For me and several other nordic athletes, Thanksgiving break meant adventure!
As soon as we were let loose from exams, we piled our skis into a van and made the trek up north to Quebec in search of snow. Although the ski area Foret Montmerency was not open due to lack of snow, we still managed to seek out some skiable trails. We also broke out the rollerskis for some skate technique sessions.
Most of us returned home in time for Thanksgiving, but a few of the boys stayed behind to get in extra training. Luckily a snow storm hit and brought with it fantastic skiing conditions. They raced in a time trial against some of the college teams that were in the area- check out the results here http://www.nensa.net/news/news_more.php?id=2929
Today was the first day of the 2nd trimester. This year the schedule has been tweaked a little so we held our first full nordic practice this morning before classes. The snow seemed to follow us home, so we were able to ski at Frenchman’s Hole, a popular swimming spot in the summer. It was fantastic to see everyone out there skiing and having fun!
