Back for your Friday Fix…

This may be the best Friday of the year so far, because tomorrow morning we, the students, are not the ones waking up to attend Saturday classes; our parents are!:) This weekend is Gould Academy’s fall parents weekend, and that makes for a very exciting time around our campus.

First, it marks the middle of the first trimester, which is a good thing because this is about the time when the new students and old students forget who has been here for 3 years and who has been here for 6 weeks. Everyone has had enough unique Gould experiences by now to be able to make conversation with anyone on campus. Through orientation, mountain day, practices and even dish duty… there is at least one thing you have in common with every other student on this campus.

Second, as we begin to jump further into foliage season, with campus surrounded by beautiful reds, yellows and oranges some of us cannot help but feel winter in the air. The competitive Gould Academy On Snow programs have already been in pre-season training a few days a week on top of other athletic commitments. Also the hail we had on mountain day did nothing but get everyone even more excited for the snow to start falling.

Third, I’ve been told through the grapevine that mid-term grades are released to students sometime tomorrow. These grades seem to mostly be beneficial to my peers and I because they give us a relatively good estimate of how we are doing in all of our classes and what work we can be doing to improve all of those grades. Since they are “unofficial”, or not included on our transcript, it seems for me personally that they serve mostly as motivation for what I could be working a little harder on so I can get my grades up another two or three points total before the end of the trimester.

I am extremely excited for this weekend. My mom Sheilah, will be coming up for classes and too watch our soccer game on Saturday and I can’t wait to see her. 🙂 Then I get to go home for a short time and visit with my older brother who’s home from RPI for the weekend, my two younger siblings and my Dad. After that it’s off to visit colleges in the Boston area until Wednesday, at which point everyone arrives back on campus.
I hope all of you parents are as excited about this weekend as we all are! If you have any questions or comments about this upcoming weekend or about the fall term thus far feel free to post them below!
Hopefully I will see some of you this weekend!
