So here we are again, back at the Academy and jumping right back into things as we truly dive into the winter trimester. Moving back in was a bittersweet event. Don’t get me wrong though, I was thrilled to be coming back to see all of my friends and live with my roomate Alli again, but after the great, relaxing, funfilled break I had, I wasn’t too sure I was ready to start classes again. Some teachers eased us back into the whole learning thing after being away for so long while others went full throttle into the new material as if we had never taken a break. Nevertheless, starting classes wasn’t as bad as I thought, and now that its been a few days, everything feels normal again.
When I got back to school, something was noticeably different, and it was the last thing I thought would happen after the start to the winter that we have had…the temperature was well above freezing. The past few days there has been quite the winter warmup. temperatures have been reaching nearly 60 degrees by midday! It is insane. While it has been nice not having to bundle up in layers upon layers of clothes just to walk from one building to another, I hope it doesn’t last too long and take away all of the early season snow that we have been lucky enough to get this year!
Now that we are in January of 2008, the teachers are already talking about 4-point which seems like it is rapidly approaching. It won’t be long before freshman head to China and we juniors head out into the woods for a winter camping extravaganza. And lucky us, it is a leap year and we get a whole extra day out in those February woods! I’m sure it will be a good time, but I am definitely nervous and anxious about it!
There is not too much to report after being back for a mere 2 days, but by next week I’m sure I will have more to talk about. Let’s hope for some more snow!
